Home Sweet Home

overcast 20 °C

We arrived in Albany last night safe and sound after a very wild ride home with MAJOR, drink-hitting-the-ceiling turbulence! We are glad to have made safe and sound! I will be posting some more photos as I get them and find the time to do so.

Hope to see everyone at the International Festival next weekend 3/27 at 3 pm to 6 pm @ the AAG campus. That is the next big event for us! We will be displaying some of the things we picked up in China!!

Shanghai School Visit

sunny 23 °C

Thanks to Mrs. Buran's organizational efforts we were able to visit a Shanghai High School yesterday morning (3/19)! The students were able to speak with their Chinese peers and find out about what they do at school and in their free time. They also shot a few hoops out on the Basketball Court. It was an absolutely gorgeous day! Sunny and warm, the best weather we have had yet!

Next we went to the shop and gallary where Mrs. Gorton's friend, Brian is the Promotional Director. He spoke about his experience moving to China, landing a great job and what his life is like in this great city. His shop, Source, is in the French Concession area so we got to do some last minute shopping and use up our Yuan.

Dinner was very authentic and truly spicy. I don't think I have ever seen so many peppers at one meal.

It was a great way to spend our last day in China!

Today (3/20) we leave at 3:55 pm local time and are scheduled to arrive in Albany late tonight! We will reclaim the 12 hours we lost when we came here!

Overall, it has been an awesome trip. We have seen so much and met some great people. The Chinese are fascinating and resourceful people. We saw massive construction all over China. They call construction cranes their "National Bird", and it is not hard to see why. China is truly on the move!

Hangzhou

We had a long drive to visit Hangzhou Temple and Gardens. An interesting lunch that had a tendancy to stare back at us. A boat tour of the ancient causeways, mountains and temples that surround the West Lake.
